Get to Know LNE Consulting Team Member Jovani Rodriguez

At LNE Consulting we understand how significant our team members are to the work we do, so we thought we’d take a moment to sit down with one of them and get to know a bit about the people who make LNE Consulting the close-knit company that it is. Today we did a little question, answer interview with Jovani Rodriguez who has only been with the company for 16 months and yet has made a very large impact with his positive attitude and go-getter mentality.

A: Mrs. Julie Edmonds is an amazing manager, her desire and motivation to help others is incredible. She is very determined and focuses on continuing to grow and bring out the best in others. She’s also very humble and caring. One of the things that she does that makes me laugh is when she starts laughing it’s like she can’t stop and just keep laughing and laughing continuously! The best part of working with Julie is knowing how successful she is and that she is willing to help me accomplish my goals!

Q: Describe the people that you work with.  What are they like?

A: The people I work with in the office are great! Everybody is very motivated and fun to work with. Some are motivated to give their family a better lifestyle, others are motivated to become their own boss and impact others lives positively.  It’s great to surround yourself with successful people and learn from one another. My assistant manager, Otto Hurtado, has become like a brother to me and he is someone I’m very grateful to be able to work with.

Q: What have been some of your favorite team night activities? In your own words, why do you think team nights are important?

A: Team nights are extremely important it gives us an opportunity to bond, create great relationships and have a lot of fun! One of my favorites is when we go bowling! Or go watch sports.

This is one of the activities that our CEO, Julie Edmonds, attributes to almost two decades of business success. In our experience, taking the time to think about and write down our goals provides essential clarity to the activities of the day. When each member of the team knows what he or she is striving for, we are able to hit the start button for the day and run like a well-oiled machine.

Importantly, goal-setting creates accountability. If Jovani and Leidis, team leaders at LNE Consulting, write down their goals and exceed them, we know that they deserve an extra pat on the back that day! Likewise, if one of their counterparts falls short of his goals, we know that it might be time for some mentoring, or at least a pep talk to bring him up to speed. Either way, our written goals provide a checklist at the end of each day, week, month, quarter, and year, making it easy to measure progress.

We love this quote because it’s all about perspective. Pressure can be destructive, there’s no doubt. But it can also have truly wonderful consequences. If you ask anyone who’s been successful in business (or in any field, for that matter!), they will tell you that they are thankful for the tough lessons they’ve learned along the way.

How to Make 2017 Your Year!

The 2016 year was an incredible one at LNE Consulting. The new year kicked off five days ago, and we’ve already made big plans. Here, we are going to share our secrets to making the year work for you too!

Set goals – Or as some people want to call them, resolutions. We prefer goals. Are you going to just let 2017 happen to you… or are you going to make something happen this year? At LNE Consulting we choose the latter. The only way to ensure you do is to set some goals that you’re committed to achieving, come hell or high water.

3o7abnnjtcwfuvnadeHave a plan – You can’t just wish for things to happen. If you’ve set goals before but haven’t achieved them, maybe it’s in your action plan. What if you decided to bake a cake but had no recipe… how would that turn out? The same thing happens when setting goals!

Choose your company wisely – Spend less time with people who bring you down. It seems pretty straight forward but those people are the ones who deter you from being the best version of you. They also end up being the ones who interfere with achieving your goals. So ask yourself, are these people bringing the good or bad out in me? You’ll know what to do from there.

The Countdown Has Started: Here’s How to Make the Most Out of the 10 Remaining Days of 2016

lne-consulting-hollywood-christmas201616Whether you’re planning to hustle through the holidays or catch up on some rest and relaxation (or both!), LNE Consulting has some great tips for you to maximize the most wonderful time of the year!

1. Remember that the best “present” is your “presence” — and by that we mean your full attention. It’s important to set boundaries between work time and family time. Whether you’re hanging out with your favorite or least favorite family member (ha!), it’s important to put your phone and laptop away. You’ve probably been on the receiving end of this pesky habit, so you know what it feels like. If you plan on working during your holiday vacation, do so, by all means! Just remember to give 100% of your attention to the task at hand, especially if it’s time that should be designated for connecting with loved ones.

Or, depending on your actions, that’s 240 lost hours that are chalked up to ‘next year will be my year.’ Just because the year is waning, doesn’t mean that your work ethic or attitude have to.  If you’ve got an important goal, why wait until a certain day to get going? Not to mention, we’ve learned throughout LNE Consulting‘s history is that the more momentum you have as the year closes, the easier it will be to pick back up as soon as the ball drops.

3. Set new goals that you care deeply about. New Years Resolutions are a dime a dozen and only a fraction ever come to fruition. There are many reasons for this, but the common denominator in failed goals is the lack of commitment to seeing them through. If you decide to jump on the New Years Resolutions Bandwagon, do so with vigor. Write your goals down. Discuss them in detail with a mentor. Share them with your friends and family. Head into 2017 with the utmost resolve to accomplish what you’ve set your mind to. Oh, and whatever you do, don’t choose your goals haphazardly over your midnight glass of champagne!

If you’re avid Stephen Covey fans like we are at LNE Consulting, you’ve heard of “sharpening the saw.” As the story goes, an exhausted woodcutter was attempting to saw down a tree. An onlooker suggested that he stop to sharpen his saw, to which he replied that he didn’t have time to take a break. Now that’s silly! Sharpening the saw is different for every individual, but the idea is to renew yourself. Our CEO, Julie Edmonds, for example, is a big fan of daily meditation. By quieting her mind she is able to stay grounded and run the successful business that she does. The holidays can be a busy time, so don’t forget to take some time to yourself to rejuvenate.

LNE Consulting’s Lesson #2:

Gaining an advantage over the competition is easier than you might think — if you’re willing to put in the effort.

“Most people won’t put in the time to get a knowledge advantage.”

By its very definition, the state of being “above average” means that you’re different from the masses. So, it goes without saying that doing the things that “most” people do will never earn you “above average” success. Our team here at LNE Consulting is competitive, to say the least — and we’re definitely never satisfied with average in any capacity.

Mark Cuban ever so flawlessly points out in his book the interesting phenomenon that most people don’t do the most basic, rudimentary things to be great. More specifically, most people don’t take the time to gain a knowledge advantage by reading.

Constant learning is a key habit of the super successful, and it’s an easy one to add to your repertoire if you’re seeking to emulate the greats. If you haven’t yet added reading to your routine, you’ll be amazed to find out how quickly you can step up your game by learning from those who have been there before you. If you are new to sales and are struggling to produce on a consistent basis, guess what? There are thousands of books that will help you. If you are striving to manage a stronger team, there are so many great places to read about the trials and tribulations of those who have already mastered the challenge.

If that doesn’t sound like a great case for reading, put your competitive hat on for a moment and frame it this way: Think of all the other people who have read the literature that you’ve missed.

It’s worth reading this small paragraph from Cuban’s book for yourself:

“Everything I read was public. Anyone could buy the same books and magazines. The same information was available to anyone who wanted it. Turns out most people didn’t want it.

 

I remember going into customer meetings or talking to people in the industry and tossing out tidbits about software or hardware… All things I had read. I expected the ongoing response of: ‘Oh yea, I had read that too in such-and-such.’ That’s not what happened.”

Pretty amusing, right? And of course, he’s 100% on point.

Take a moment to think about all of the books that have been recommended to you by your mentors. Have you read them all? How many times? The average individual hasn’t read books like How To Win Friends and Influence People (our own CEO’s favorite) three times, two times — or even once. The average individual doesn’t read the abundance of great articles that are published daily on sites like Entrepreneur, Forbes, and Inc. But, taking the time to gain a knowledge advantage is precisely what sky-rocketed billionaire Mark Cuban to success!

To leave you with a fun fact, did you know that reading is what landed Cuban his first job out of college? He lied to his interviewer to get the job (okay, this part we don’t recommend!) and said that he had knowledge of IBM PCs. Instead of chickening out, he brought home different software manuals every night and taught himself what he needed to know. Before he knew it, everyone started to think he knew his stuff. “Turns out, not a lot of people ever bothered to RTFM (read the frickin’ manual),” he wrote. Love this!

Even to this day, Mark Cuban gains comfort and confidence in his businesses by reading each day.
