LNE Consulting on the Importance of Failure

At LNE Consulting we believe that repeated failure is the key to success. Like we often tell our management trainees, the key to getting promoted faster is failing faster. The more quickly you can make and learn from your mistakes, the more rapidly you’ll be on your way to becoming a master. Take a look at two quotes we love that embody this philosophy.

“When you take risks, you learn that there will be times when you succeed, and there will be times when you fail, and both are equally important.” —Ellen DeGeneres

Success is a decent teacher, and failure is an amazing teacher. It’s important to be able to learn from both.

When things are going well for you, don’t just ride the wave. Take the time to recognize why you’re doing well. Have you been getting more sleep lately and taking care of your health? Have you been dedicating the time to planning more effectively? Has your sense of urgency and efficiency been extra on point? Are you spending extra time building relationships with your customers or team members? It’s important to write these things down because they’ll serve as a checklist to return to when everything is not running as smoothly.

On the flip side, do your best to look at failure in a positive light. Anyone who has ever become great at something has failed and failed and failed. As a rookie, it’s easy to forget that making mistakes is normal. It’s easy to beat yourself up and be tempted to give up because you don’t think you’re a “natural.” The reality, though, is that as long as you’re giving 100%, making mistakes is the healthy thing to do. Focus your energy on learning from your mistakes, and do everything in your power not to make the same mistake twice. Continuous learning will be the key to your success.

“No human ever became interesting by not failing. The more you fail and recover and improve, the better you are as a person. Ever meet someone who’s always had everything work out for them with zero struggle? They usually have the depth of a puddle. Or they don’t exist.” —Chris Hardwick

This quote is so accurate! Without any doubt, the most interesting and respectable people we’ve ever met have been those who have been through a lot in their lives and careers. Think about the opposite: a person who wakes up one morning rich, who didn’t have to do anything to earn it. There’s nothing inspiring about that. The greatest stories are from those who have endured a struggle and overcome it.

Giving 100% and Stepping Outside One’s Comfort Zone: Two Essentials for Success

Developing a successful mentality is an integral part of the management training program at LNE Consulting in Hollywood, FL. Here, we will share two quotes that speak to the philosophies that are most important at our firm.

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.” – Walt Disney

The most important part of this quote is where Disney talks about devoting all of your energy to a goal. Anyone who has ever accomplished something major will tell you that it’s all about giving it your all. When you keep your back doors open and don’t fully commit to seeing something through, you’ll find that your likelihood of success shrinks dramatically. As Disney said, when you give 100% to your goal, you’ll either achieve it, or you’ll discover something even greater. The key is to go all in if anything is going to be worth your while.

“Sometimes, I shake if I have to do something that I’ve never done before –– maybe not noticeably, but inside. But I’ll do it, because I know it’s not an insurmountable task; I’ve done plenty of tasks in my life.” – Martha Stewart

Say what you will about Martha Stewart, but you have to admit that she’s a well-accomplished woman who’s accumulated a lot of wisdom in her day. This quote is all about comfort zones. As we like to say at LNE Consulting, it’s about getting comfortable being uncomfortable.

It’s totally normal to feel timid when it comes to trying something new. It’s important to realize, though, that living outside of your comfort zone is almost like exercising a muscle: the more you do it, the stronger you become. If you get in the habit of pushing yourself, you’ll develop confidence that only comes from accomplishing the thing you thought you couldn’t.

2 Success Quotes that Will Give You Necessary Food for Thought

lne-consulting-1At LNE Consulting we believe that the road to success is almost entirely a mental one. Sure, hard work has its physical components; but, the ability to take action starts in the mind. The rare qualities of self-discipline, grit, optimism, and perseverance are those that separate the successful from the unsuccessful.

Let’s take a look at two of LNE Consulting’s favorite quotes that demonstrate this very thing:

“Pressure can bust pipes, but it also can make diamonds.”  – Robert Horry

We love this quote because it’s all about perspective. Pressure can be destructive, there’s no doubt. But it can also have truly wonderful consequences. If you ask anyone who’s been successful in business (or in any field, for that matter!), they will tell you that they are thankful for the tough lessons they’ve learned along the way.

For every handful of people who cave to pressure and end up giving up, there’s always that success-minded person who makes the decision to turn a potential negative into a real positive. The strongest, most experienced, most successful people are those who have simply toughed it out.

“If I fail more than you, I win.”  – Seth Godin

As confusing as this quote seems at first glance, it’s really quite simple. No one becomes an expert without screwing up. In fact, the fastest way to become successful is to fail as often as possible and learn from your mistakes. Think of the most successful person you know. Do you think that person got there by being flawless and perfect at every moment? We think not! In fact, we know not!

The reason this quote makes sense is because successful people fall hard and then they don’t stop there. They recover from their failure and then they fail again! And again, and again, and again.

Unsuccessful people, however, are often deterred by a single failure. In fact, many people are deterred by the very idea of failure. So, for the people that have the guts to keep on failing, they are eventually going to figure it out, and therefore win.
